The update, also known as "Rust and Dust" or "Draedon's Arsenal", added the Arsenal Lab structures along with associated blocks and furniture, many new weapons including several which utilize a new Charge system, some new accessories and armor sets, and reworked various boss fights, among very many other changes and adjustments. The update also included several visual and functional redesigns, including the Wulfrum items and enemies, the Siren (now Anahita) and the Leviathan and their associated items, and the Meld set.

Boss[edit | edit source]

  • Revengeance Mode vanilla boss fights are updated with vanilla v1.4.0.1+ AI changes.
  • Boss charging velocities now scale with how fast the boss is moving.
  • Boss contact damage now scales with how fast the boss is moving, relative to their max speed.
  • All bosses move faster the further away they are from the player.
  • Holding a true melee weapon reduces acceleration of Calamitas, Supreme Calamitas, and The Twins by 50%.
Aquatic Scourge[edit | edit source]
  • Adjusted the pattern of the Toxic Gas Clouds so that they spread out more.
  • Number of segments and size now scales with world difficulty.
Astrum Aureus[edit | edit source]
  • Astrum Aureus' jumps now try to intercept and slam the player if they are moving.
  • Astrum Aureus' jump height now increases based on how high up the player is.
Astrum Deus[edit | edit source]
  • Boss fight has been completely overhauled. Fight starts out with one worm that splits into two at 50% health.
  • Removed Astrum Deus Probes from the fight.
  • Defeating one worm or the other in phase 2 ends the fight.
  • Flight speed now increases dramatically as its health lowers.
  • Now inflicts Extreme Gravity in Revengeance and Death Mode.
Leviathan and Anahita[edit | edit source]
  • Boss fight has been reworked. Anahita's projectiles are more aggressive depending on world difficulty.
  • Anahita now fires water bolts that converge at the player's location.
  • Anahita's Ice Shield can only be spawned three times in one fight.
  • Anahita begins charging at the player below 66% health.
  • Leviathan is now summoned when Anahita reaches 40% health on all difficulties.
  • Anahita becomes passive and invulnerable while Leviathan is above 40% health.
  • Leviathan's projectile inflicts Armor Crunch.
Brain of Cthulhu[edit | edit source]
Brimstone Elemental[edit | edit source]
  • Reworked the laser phase, the number of times the laser is fired is dependent on the world difficulty.
  • The laser will now track ahead of the player if they are moving.
  • Brimstone Elemental takes less time to perform her laser attack.
Calamitas[edit | edit source]
  • Significantly decreased the player tracking on the Calamitas' phase 2 charge.
Ceaseless Void[edit | edit source]
  • Gave the Ceaseless Void the tile-detection enrage code that is shared with Plantera.
  • The ring of Dark Energy projectiles rotates slower on all world difficulties.
  • Dark Energy projectiles now inflict the Distorted debuff.
Crabulon[edit | edit source]
  • Crabulon's jumps now try to intercept and slam the player if they are moving.
  • Crabulon's jump height now increases based on how high up the player is.
Cryogen[edit | edit source]
  • Added an aurora effect above the player during the fight.
  • The amount of ice shards rained in phase 3 and 4 is reduced from 15 to 6 and 12 respectively.
  • Ice Bombs and Ice Blasts are now fired in evenly-spaced rings.
The Destroyer[edit | edit source]
  • Removed Frost beams from the fight in Revengeance and Death Mode.
  • The Destroyer gains the ability to divebomb below 25% health.
The Devourer of Gods[edit | edit source]
  • Laser walls can no longer occur in Normal Mode.
  • Laser walls now have a proper telegraph before appearing.
  • The same laser wall pattern can no longer appear twice in a row.
  • In Revengeance Mode, moves even faster when farther from the player.
  • Three Cosmic Guardians are now spawned during phase 2.
  • Reduced boss kill time of Phase 1 from 120 to 90 seconds.
  • The Sentinel phase will not occur again after defeating it once in the fight, instead of after defeating the boss.
The Dragonfolly[edit | edit source]
  • All projectiles spawned by The Dragonfolly inflict the Electrified debuff.
  • Decreased the overall charge speed.
  • Gave The Dragonfolly an enrage if the player leaves the Jungle biome or if there is enough distance between the player and the boss.
  • The feather projectiles now have a proper pattern when summoned.
  • Increased the length of the Red Lightning Aura.
  • Increased the distance between each Red Lightning Aura from the player in its final phase.
Golem[edit | edit source]
  • Reduced the projectile fire rate of the freed Golem head in phase 3.
  • Reduced boss kill time from 180 to 150 seconds.
The Plaguebringer Goliath[edit | edit source]
  • Reworked The Plaguebringer Goliath's enrage to be more akin to the Queen Bee.
Profaned Guardians[edit | edit source]
  • All Profaned Guardians (including the servant variants) now inflict Holy Flames for 5 seconds on contact instead of On Fire! for 10 seconds.
Providence, the Profaned Goddess[edit | edit source]
  • Added the ability to fight Providence at Night. During the night, Providence has modified and more intense AI.
  • There is now a 2-second delay before Providence can use another attack after finishing the cocoon phase.
  • The cocoon flame and spear attacks are now more pattern-based.
  • Molten Phase can no longer occur in Normal Mode.
  • Providence now has a unique summoning animation that plays when the Profaned Core is used.
Jungle Dragon, Yharon[edit | edit source]
  • Phase 1 of the fight has been reworked. Projectile patterns have been adjusted to make the fight more consistent.
    • Homing flare dust is now fired during subphase 2.
    • Homing flare dust pattern changes during subphase 3.
    • Removed subphase 4, Yharon still becomes invulnerable at 10% health.
  • Phase 2 of the fight has also been reworked.
    • Subphase 5 reworked, now releases more flare bombs and detonating flames, per cycle.
    • Subphase 6 reworked, now summons big flare tornadoes more frequently.
    • Subphase 7 reworked, reduced the overall speed of the cycle of attacks. Gains a teleport.
    • Subphase 8 reworked, loses all abilities except dashing, spawning homing flare dust, and teleporting. Yharon's damage is increased by 25% during this phase.
  • All projectiles spawned by Yharon now inflict Lethal Lava Burn.
  • Border-Infernadoes have less sway.
Plantera[edit | edit source]
  • All charging speeds have been increased by 33%. Final phase charges are now less aggressive.
  • Plantera will now spawn tentacle hooks multiple times throughout the fight. All hooks have a 1-second delay before dealing damage when spawned.
  • Plantera's hook and projectile spread decreases as its health decreases.
Polterghast[edit | edit source]
  • Boss fight has been reworked. Polterghast is now much more aggressive.
  • Polterghast's blue and red phantom projectiles now inflict Nightwither and Whispering Death respectively. Projectile patterns have also been adjusted to make the fight more fair.
  • Both Polterghast and its clone can now inflict Moon Bite on the player.
  • Phantoms now orbit Polterghast itself instead of the player.
Ravager[edit | edit source]
  • Ravager will now jump and slam the player during phase 2. Slam frequency increases as Ravager's health decreases.
  • Ravager's jump height now increases based on how high up the player is.
  • Rock and Flame Pillars can no longer spawn in Normal Mode.
  • Rock Pillars can now be damaged and destroyed.
  • Adjusted movement patterns in phase 2 for the Rock Pillars.
Signus, Envoy of the Devourer[edit | edit source]
  • Telegraphed the Cosmic Mines attack.
  • Now inflicts God Slayer Inferno from its Essence Dust attack.
  • Removed Cosmic Flame Burst and the special darkness effects in Revengeance Mode.
Skeletron Prime[edit | edit source]
  • Removed probes from the fight in Revengeance and Death Mode.
The Slime God[edit | edit source]
  • The Core transitions into Phase 2 at 20% health, or 40% health when both slimes are killed.
  • Reduced the projectile fire rate of the Slime God Core.
  • Slime God's orbs now fade in and out. They no longer deal damage during the first and last second after being released.
Storm Weaver[edit | edit source]
  • Removed the Storm Weaver's enrage.
  • Storm Weaver now moves faster the farther it is from the player.
  • Storm Weaver now has a charging attack in Revengeance and Death Mode.
Supreme Calamitas[edit | edit source]
  • All projectiles now take 1.33 seconds to fully appear after they spawn. All non-fully formed projectiles do 0 damage.
  • Brimstone Monster number spawn count adjusted, 2 / 4 Brimstone Monsters can now spawn during the fight. All Brimstone Monsters now spawn at once during bullet hell 4.
  • Brimstone Monster push force on each other has been significantly reduced, and no longer push each other in Death Mode.
  • Brimstone Monsters can no longer spawn in Normal Mode.
  • Brimstone Flame Skulls now spawn from both sides of the screen during bullet hell 5. Overall frequency of skulls decreased in Death Mode due to the smaller arena size.
  • Adjusted how Sepulcher tracks the player and slightly reduced its turning speed.
  • Increased boss kill time from 240 to 300 seconds.
Wall of Flesh[edit | edit source]
  • Reduced boss kill time from 180 to 120 seconds.

NPC[edit | edit source]

  • Cnidrion now falls through and climbs blocks slower.
  • Abyss worms now pick an area to swim around in when they spawn. Their movements have been adjusted to be more natural.
  • Eidolon Wyrms now swim down and despawn if they kill the player.
  • Death Mode ocean Sharknadoes and Cthulhunadoes no longer spawn Sharkrons.
  • Nebula Floaters, Necromancers, and Ragged Casters all fire their projectiles slower and are less aggressive.
  • Cosmic Guardian's top speed significantly increased, and acceleration has been decreased.
  • Tooth Balls now speed up when farther from the player.
  • Wulfrum Drones now fly around and occasionally charge at the player.

Balance[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • Added brand new Rogue Modifiers that can be applied to most rogue weapons.
  • Banners now reduce the damage of projectiles from their corresponding enemy.
  • Enemy DR system now applies to Normal and Expert Modes.
  • Contact and Projectile damage reduction now has a soft cap that scales with your base damage reduction.
  • The Ichor debuff no longer reduces enemy DR.
  • Rogue variants of hybrid weapons can now trigger universal stealth strike effects.

Armor and Accessories[edit | edit source]

  • Aerospec armor stats adjusted:
    • Aerospec Valkyrie set bonus minion base damage decreased from 25 to 20 and hit cooldown increased from 10 to 20.
  • Daedalus armor stats adjusted:
    • Daedalus Breastplate defense granted increased by 2.
    • Daedalus Leggings defense granted increased by 2.
  • Empyrean and Tarragon armor helmets no longer grant immunity to Cursed Inferno, On Fire!, Cursed, and Chilled.
  • Forbidden armor stats adjusted:
    • The Forbidden Circlet set bonus no longer grants minions the ability to deal full damage. Max rogue stealth decreased from 100 to 40. Increased the mana cost of the Ancient Storm by 10.
  • Fathom Swarmer armor stats adjusted:
    • Fathom Swarmer Visage minion damage granted decreased from 10% to 5%.
    • Fathom Swarmer Breastplate minion damage granted decreased from 12% to 6%.
    • Fathom Swarmer Greaves minion damage granted decreased from 7% to 4%.
    • Increased the minion damage granted when submerged in liquids by 20%.
    • Decreased the minion damage granted when out of liquids by 20%.
  • Gladiator armor stats adjusted:
    • Gladiator Helmet defense decreased from 4 to 3.
    • Gladiator Breastplate defense decreased from 7 to 5.
    • Gladiator Leggings defense decreased from 5 to 4.
    • Set Bonus defense decreased from 5 to 3.
  • Hadal Mantle bonus damage when wearing Hydrothermic armor decreased from 10% to 5%.
  • Hydrothermic armor stats adjusted:
    • Hydrothermic Vent set bonus minion fire rate increased from 38 to 20 frame intervals. Fire rate is further doubled if the target is above the vent. Now fires a spread of 2-3 gravity-affected fireballs if enemies are nearby but not above the vent.
    • Added the Brimstone Elemental's lore item buffs to the Inferno effect.
  • The Molten armor set bonus now grants 20% increased true melee damage.
  • Removed the Silva and Auric Tesla armor set debuff immunities.
  • The Abaddon and Asgard's Valor no longer grant immunity to the Brimstone Flames debuff. Now reduces the damage over time effect by 50%.
  • Abyssal Mirror now only spawns 10 ink bomb projectiles instead of 50.
  • The Asgard's Valor no longer grants immunity to the Holy Flames debuff.
  • The Alchemical Flask and Plague Hive no longer grants immunity to the Plague debuff. Now reduces the damage over time effect by 50%.
  • The Amalgam now has a damaging aura at all times instead of underwater. Aura damage is reduced from 320 to 300 but damages twice as frequently. Enemies that struck the player get inflicted with God Slayer Inferno, Sulphuric Poisoning, Irradiated, and Brimstone Flames. The Fungal Clump now possesses the seawater instead of the player. Fungal Clump's speed, range and aggression is dramatically increased. Brimstone Fireballs are dropped every 8 seconds instead of 10.
  • The Aquatic Heart no longer provides defense, life regen and creature detection.
  • Nerfed Asgard's Valor explosion from 100 to 60 damage.
  • Nerfed Asgardian Aegis dash from 1500 to 500 damage. Explosion damage decreased from 1000 to 300 damage. Eruption damage decreased from 780 to 200 damage.
  • Blood Pact now grants various buffs for 10 seconds to the player whenever they are critically hit. While buffed, the player also gains an additional 50% health from healing potions.
  • The Camper life regeneration bonuses are now less effective while a boss is alive.
  • Elemental Gauntlet increases true melee damage by 20%. This boost isn't stacked with boosts from any of its downgrades.
  • Nerfed Elysian Aegis dash from 500 to 350 damage. Explosion damage decreased from 500 to 210 damage. Eruption damage decreased from 380 to 140 damage.
  • Fungal Symbiote true melee damage boost is decreased from 25% to 15%.
  • The Gravistar Sabaton explosion is now boosted by the average of the player's damage boosts.
  • Prevented all minions from the Heart of the Elements to attack when initially spawning to allow their compacted damage not to be exploited.
  • Hide of Astrum Deus true melee damage boost is decreased from 200% to 50%.
  • Ink Bomb, Abyssal Mirror, and Eclipse Mirror dodge effects no longer stack.
  • Mana Polarizer can now only heal the player if they are holding a magic weapon.
  • Samurai Badge increases true melee damage by 20%.
  • Titan Glove, Power Glove, Mechanical Glove, or Fire Gauntlet increase true melee damage by 10%.
  • Adjusted Vital Jelly, jump speed granted reduced from 40% to 24%. Increased movement speed granted from 10% to 20%.
  • Yharim's Insignia increases true melee damage by 10%.

Melee[edit | edit source]
  • Nerfed Abyss Blade, base damage decreased from 110 to 90, and trident damage by 33%. Reduced the duration and chance of inflicting Crush Depth.
  • Astral Blade, Blade of Enmity, Gael's Greatsword, Mantis Claws, and Omniblade now only gain 25% of melee swing speed increases.
  • Nerfed Astral Blade, base damage decreased from 135 to 95. Gave Astral Blade a new mechanic that increases damage based on how much health the enemy has left.
  • Buffed Astral Scythe, base damage increased from 95 to 120.
  • Nerfed Burnt Sienna, base damage decreased from 35 to 14.
  • Nerfed Cosmic Shiv, base damage decreased from 800 to 666.
  • Nerfed Crimson Crusher Blade, base damage decreased from 41 to 38. Contact damage reduction reduced from 10 to 5.
  • Buffed Daybreak, base damage increased from 150 to 225.
  • Elemental Shiv projectiles now travel from both sides of the screen instead of just the left side. Nerfed base damage from 180 to 160.
  • Galileo Gladius projectiles now deal 50% of the weapon's base damage. Removed the projectile resistance from The Old Duke.
  • Gelitic Blade projectile now passes through tiles. Base damage increased from 36 to 38.
  • Buffed The God's Gambit, base damage increased from 28 to 33.
  • The Destroyer's projectile resistance to the Kelvin Catalyst melee variant reduced.
  • Nerfed The Mutilator, base damage decreased from 950 to 700.
  • Nerfed Nadir, base damage decreased from 1100 to 700. No longer has flat damage.
  • Nerfed Scourge of the Cosmos melee variant, base damage reduced from 1550 to 1300.
  • Buffed Solar Eruption, base damage increased from 105 to 157.
  • Nerfed True Forbidden Oathblade, base damage decreased from 200 to 150. Reduced true melee explosion damage from 300% to 200%.
  • Typhon's Greed bubble projectiles now deal 50% of the weapon's base damage. Base damage decreased from 75 to 65. Reduced the duration and chance of inflicting Crush Depth.
  • Nerfed Ultimus Cleaver, base damage decreased from 300 to 130.
Ranged[edit | edit source]
Magic[edit | edit source]
  • Buffed Apoctosis Array, base damage increased from 45 to 55. Decreased mana consumption by 2.
  • Dark Spark's beam damage now ramps up depending on how long it is charged. Starts at 25% of base damage and increases to a max of 220% damage. Hit cooldown is increased from 10 to 15.
  • Buffed Effervescence, base damage increased from 36 to 40.
  • Nerfed Eternity, base damage decreased from 6969 to 4200.
  • Nerfed Event Horizon, stars now last 5 seconds instead of 10. Blackhole damage is cut in half and hit cooldown is nerfed from 5 to 8. Base damage increased from 231 to 369.
  • Fabstaff beam projectiles are now more consistent and don't linger as long. Base damage decreased from 800 to 616.
  • Nerfed Frost Bolt, base damage decreased from 11 to 10.
  • Buffed Helium Flash, base damage increased from 1110 to 1111.
  • Nerfed Hematemesis, base damage decreased from 90 to 75.
  • Nerfed Hyphae Rod, base damage decreased from 20 to 15, reduced the projectile lifespan from 15 to 8 seconds.
  • Ion Blaster now deals 40% less damage while the player has the Astral Injection buff.
  • Buffed Laser Machinegun, base damage increased from 36 to 49.
  • Reduced the number of Immunity frames granted by the Plague Staff to enemies.
  • Plasma Rifle use time decreased by 32, alt-fire mana consumption increased by 5. Nerfed base damage from 460 to 168.
  • Relic of Ruin now only fires 12 projectiles instead of 16. Base damage decreased from 26 to 20.
  • Shifting Sands can now only spawn up to one projectile when continuously held. Nerfed base damage from 85 to 61.
  • Nerfed Storm Spray, base damage decreased from 18 to 14.
  • Reduced the debuff duration inflicted by the Ultra Liquidator.
  • Increased Vivid Clarity's homing beam from 20% to 100% damage. Decreased bouncing beam's damage from 100% to 70%.
  • Voltaic Climax orbs shoot electric beams twice as slowly. Buffed base damage from 80 to 131.
  • Nerfed Waywasher, base damage decreased from 20 to 15.
  • There is now a 1-second cooldown before the Wrath of the Ancients sigil can fire its projectiles when summoned.
  • Buffed Wulfrum Staff, base damage increased from 10 to 12.
Summon[edit | edit source]
  • Black Hawk Remote minion now detects targets and fires through tiles. Nerfed base damage from 46 to 32.
  • Increased the delay in how frequently the Corvid Harbinger Staff minions deal damage. Buffed minion base damage from 275 to 300.
  • Adjusted the charging speed of the Deepsea Staff minion. Nerfed minion base damage from 48 to 42.
  • Decreased Elemental Axe use time from 36 to 15.
    • This was due to an oversight.
  • Buffed Endo Hydra Staff, minion base damage increased from 400 to 450.
  • Buffed Entropy's Vigil, minion base damage increased from 35 to 40.
  • Nerfed Frost Blossom Staff, base minion damage decreased from 12 to 10.
  • Removed the Hive Pod's projectile lingering function.
  • Nerfed Midnight Sun Beacon, minion base damage decreased from 260 to 240. Lasers now deal summon damage.
    • The laser's damage type change was due to an oversight.
  • Plantation Staff minion now enrages if the player goes below 75% total health and requires 3 minion slots to summon. Nerfed base damage from 70 to 55. Added spores and tentacles to the small Plantera minion.
  • Resurrection Butterfly now deals 135% damage to Duke Fishron and 75% damage to the Lunatic Cultist, instead of 200% and 50% respectively.
  • Decreased the number of immunity frames the Optic Staff minions grant enemies. Decreased base minion damage from 30 to 22.
  • Increased the aggression range and attack cooldown of the Sand Sharknado Staff minion.
  • Adjusted the Saros Possession minion scaling damage and fire rate. Reduced the amount of flares fired by 1. Nerfed minion base damage from 681 to 426.
  • Adjusted the charging speed of the Seabound Staff minion.
  • There is now a 2-second delay before the Spikecrag Staff minion can fire its projectiles when summoned.
  • Increased the number of immunity frames the Staff of the Mechworm minion grants to enemies.
  • Temporal Umbrella can now inflict Whispering Death.
  • Nerfed Yharon's Kindle Staff, minion base damage decreased from 160 to 130.
Rogue[edit | edit source]
Multi-class and Classless[edit | edit source]
  • Buffed Fallen Paladin's Hammer, base damage increased from 81 to 87. Explosion damage decreased by 70%.
  • Equalized Subduction Slicer's use time at 19 instead of 18 for the melee variant and 20 for the rogue variant.

Other[edit | edit source]

  • The Cryogen Lore item now has an increased delay between dashes.
  • The Devourer of Gods Lore item true melee damage boost is decreased from 50% to 25%.
  • The Slime God Lore item's speed is slowed down by 10% while bosses are alive.
  • Frozen Slime block effects are reduced by 33% in Revengeance Mode.
  • God Slayer Cooldown now prevents all life regeneration while active and no longer boosts damage.
  • Activating God Slayer or Silva armor revives while Draconic Surge buff is active will give the player 30 seconds of Potion Sickness. If the player already has Potion Sickness, +30 seconds is added to the debuff duration.
  • The Merchant now sells Journeyman Bait post-Skeletron and Master Bait post-Plantera.
  • Mounting now resets player momentum.
  • The Holy Flames debuff has a less severe DoT effect.
  • Life Fruit can now spawn at the start of Hardmode.
  • Nerfed several forms of Lifesteal and cap the amounts healed on most items at 50.

General[edit | edit source]

  • Reworked the Iron Heart, now prevents the player from healing and regenerating their life. Enemy damage is scaled depending on how much health the player has. No longer acts like a Hardcore mode.

Weapons[edit | edit source]

  • Reworked Halibut Cannon damage scaling, now gains minor damage buffs after various bosses are defeated for the first time.
  • Reworked Heavenly Gale, all exo arrows are now evenly randomized. Green exo arrows no longer fire if there are more than five tornados summoned and no longer have a 30% damage penalty. Teal exo arrows now deal 50% of the weapon's base damage instead of 16%. Base damage decreased from 720 to 600.
  • Reworked Murasama, now swings much slower and has increased range. Buffed base damage from 999 to 20001.
  • Reworked Photoviscerator, now spawns flares and homing sparks. Added alt-fire function.
  • Reworked Pwnagehammer, now throws a slow-moving hammer that has a chance to home-in on enemies. Buffed base damage from 90 to 210. Use time increased from 14 to 47.
  • Reworked Subsuming Vortex, now summons massive vortices that damage enemies and spawn tentacles. Nerfed base damage from 520 to 480.
