- Not to be confused with Frost Flare, an accessory which drops from Cryogen in Revengeance Mode.
Frosty Flares are consumable Hardmode rogue weapons sold by the Archmage NPC for 8 each after the defeating all Mechanical Bosses. When thrown, icicle shards rain down from the sky around the flare. The flares remain fixed on struck enemies, causing the icicles to fall on the marked enemy. A max of five flares can mark a single enemy at a time. Thrown flares that hit enemies will always inflict the Frostburn and Glacial State debuffs.
Performing a stealth strike with a Frosty Flare will make the weapon deal 90% damage, cause phantom copies of the Frosty Flare to rain down instead of icicle shards, and gravity-affected snowflakes to follow the path of the Frosty Flare. The phantom copies can spawn ice shards, and count towards the maximum of five flares on an enemy.
The Frosty Flare cannot be reforged, and therefore cannot have modifiers.
Notes[]
- Contrary to their name and appearance, they cannot be used as ammo for the Flare Gun. This is referenced in its tooltip.
- Unlike ordinary flares, Frosty Flares disappear upon impacting blocks and do not stick to them.
- This weapon does not benefit from the effects of the Invisibility Potion or the Shadow Potion.
