The Calamity Mod adds a plethora of new weapons and equipment for all classes, including the previously Pre-Hardmode-exclusive throwing class, to use throughout the game. The mod also adds many difficult boss encounters and other situations in which builds should be optimized in order to efficiently succeed. This is a guide that will show recommended weapon and equipment builds for each of the five classes at various points in the game's progression.

This guide will mention Expert Mode and Revengeance Mode items with no special formatting, and will follow the intended progression.

Pre-Boss[edit | edit source]

Start as you normally would - gather materials for building, build a couple of houses, increase your maximum health, make a trip to the Corruption/Crimson for your first ranged weapon, farm Cnidrions for Victory Shards and make Victide bars out of them. If you have a Gravitation Potion, look for floating islands and Planetoids.

Pre-Skeletron[edit | edit source]

At this point you should've already killed a few bosses, including Brain of Cthulhu/Eater of Worlds, and should be getting ready for a trip to The Underworld.

At this point you should make a trip to the Abyss with a Shadow Key and haul everything you can get out of there.

Pre-Mechanical Bosses[edit | edit source]

You should've beaten Cryogen by now, and you should be working towards your Daedalus armor by mining Cryonic Bars.

Pre-Calamitas[edit | edit source]

After killing the Mechanical Bosses you have access to Hallowed Bars as well as souls of Sight, Might and Fright allowing you to get more powerful equipment. You should also start harvesting Life Fruits for the upcoming battles.

Pre-Plantera[edit | edit source]

The drops from Calamitas help greatly in dealing with this boss thanks to the piercing effects of them which help with the 2nd phase. At this point you should aim into becoming a single class since mixed gets rather weak because of the armor set bonuses getting stronger.

Pre-Golem[edit | edit source]

The defeat of Plantera makes Perennial Ore available and Ectoplasm easily accessible from the Dungeon. Hardmode Abyss weapons, and the Great Sand Shark should also now be available.

Pre-Celestial Events[edit | edit source]

You should have plenty of equipment from the Old One's Army, Martian Invasion, and Duke Fishron.

Pre-Moon Lord[edit | edit source]

Items crafted from Meld Bars, certain unique weapons crafted using Lunar Fragments, and some new accessories should be made before the fight.

Pre-Providence[edit | edit source]

The Elemental weapons and Xeroc armor along with new items crafted using Luminite Bars and Galactica Singularities are now attainable.

Uelibloom Ore is available at this point allowing you to craft Tarragon armor and more powerful weapons.

Pre-DoG[edit | edit source]

With the unique materials from the Sentinels and the new Abyss drops post-Polterghast, several weapons are now available.

Pre-Yharon (Phase 1)[edit | edit source]

The Devourer of Gods drops Cosmilite Bars on death, allowing you to craft the God Slayer armor set. His defeat also makes the Pumpkin Moon and the Frost Moon harder and allows Pumpkings and Ice Queens to drop Nightmare Fuel and Endothermic Energy, respectively.

Pre-Yharon (Phase 2)[edit | edit source]

After Yharon reaches 10% of his HP he will flee leaving a status message informing you to kill either a Mothron, which now drop Darksun Fragments in the buffed Solar Eclipse, or Providence, the Profaned Goddess and Devourer of Gods if you happen to skip them. Note that you will still have to defeat a Mothron after defeating the mentioned bosses.

Pre-Supreme Calamitas[edit | edit source]

Defeating Yharon causes Auric Ore to generate underground, allowing you to craft powerful weapons and armor.

Endgame[edit | edit source]

Supreme Calamitas drops Calamitous Essence on death, which is required for crafting most developer items. These weapons will prove useful for the Boss Rush event. If you are playing with other mods that add even tougher bosses, these weapons will help greatly for them as well.
