Jungle Dragon, Yharon is typically the second to last Calamity boss that you will face in your playthrough, fought after The Devourer of Gods. Yharon is summoned by using a Dragon Egg in the Jungle biome at any time. After defeating Phase 1, Yharon will drop a treasure bag as he flies away allowing you to have those options available for Phase 2.

This guide will mention items exclusive to Expert and Revengeance Mode with no special formatting and will follow the intended progression.

Terrain Preparation[edit | edit source]

Although Yharon must be summoned in the Jungle, leaving the biome will not enrage him. However, Yharon summons two border tornadoes 155/125 blocks to the left and right of you from the block you use the Dragon Egg. Going outside of these tornadoes will render Yharon nearly invincible.

Build walls before where the border tornadoes are placed as the tornadoes will increase with height. Usually, 127 blocks works in Normal and in Expert, while 97 blocks works in Revengeance and Death mode. These will function as a barrier to prevent the player from accidentally touching the border tornadoes, which will instantly kill them. Yharon will enrage if you go too high from where the Dragon Egg was used, to avoid this build a roof 660 blocks up from the starting position in Normal and Expert while have this roof be 555 blocks up in Revengeance and Death Mode. A single set of platforms in the middle as well as leveling the ground of the arena will give the player a place to reset flight time as well as prevent them from getting caught by the terrain. Great vertical and horizontal mobility is a must for this fight, considering the high mobility of the boss itself. Campfires and Heart Lanterns are a useful asset to boost your health regeneration, so they should be placed throughout the arena.

Throughout the fight, Yharon will summon Detonating Flames as he takes damage, so keep this in mind when building your arena.

Gearing Up Pre-Dark Sun[edit | edit source]

Armor[edit | edit source]

Accessories[edit | edit source]

  • Elysian Tracers are the best set of wings for Yharon that also double as a pair of sprinting boots.
  • Depending on your class, you should make these post-DoG class accessories.
  • Summoner players should be using all 3 Statis accessories: Statis' Blessing, Statis' Curse, and Nucleogenesis.
    • Summoner players should also use the Profaned Soul Artifact as it summons Profaned Guardian minions that provide defensive and offensive bonuses as well as an excellent additional source of damage.
  • Despite being primarily geared toward Summoner and Rogue players, the Statis' Void Sash is still a valuable asset to other classes providing a jump boost, dash, and ninja dodge.
  • The Community is a superb option providing both offensive and defensive bonuses as well as 15 percent additional flight time.
    • The Affliction provides significantly larger boosts to max life, damage, defense, and damage reduction than The Community and is easier to obtain, but has a smaller variety of stat increases.
  • Asgardian Aegis provides some defensive boosts as well as a powerful dash.
  • Rampart of Deities is a strong defensive option providing additional immunity frames and damage reduction while also aiding in offense with 20 armor penetration. It additionally boasts the effects of the Celestial Cuffs for Mage players.
  • Core of the Blood God should be prioritized, as it helps ward off damage with a bit of extra damage reduction but, more importantly, halves Yharon's high contact damage every 20 seconds.
  • The Sponge is useful for providing defensive boosts as well as a jump boost.
  • Melee players using Yoyos should equip a Yoyo Bag to increase the range and effectiveness of the yoyo.
  • If playing a hybrid class with summoner, the Eldritch Soul Artifact is a good option, especially for Mage or Rogue, providing boosts for all classes.
  • Should you know Yharon's attack patterns very well, Reaper Tooth Necklace is an excellent choice for boosting your DPS with high damage bonuses and armor penetration at the cost of crippling your defenses.
  • When paired with a dash, the Alicorn mount can reach extreme horizontal speed, at the cost of some vertical speed.

Weapons[edit | edit source]

Weapons dropped from The Devourer of Gods or crafted with Cosmilite Bars should suffice in most situations.

Melee[edit | edit source]

  • The Enforcer's high raw damage helps bypass Yharon's high defenses.
  • Galaxia is an excellent option with its homing as well as providing the player with buffs throughout the fight.
  • The Excelsus is another sword that deals good damage and provides a bit of extra DPS if Yharon is hit with the blade.
  • The Eradicator is an option that can hit high DPS when the boomerangs stack and all hit Yharon with their lasers.
  • Devil's Devastation is a powerful option when landing the sky shots.
  • Galaxy Smasher is an extremely strong option at the cost of very low range.

Ranged[edit | edit source]

  • The Phangasm is an excellent option that deals high damage with Vanquisher Arrows.
  • The Alluvion is another bow that deals high damage with its typhoon arrows and monsoons. It requires Wooden Arrows in order to be used effectively.
  • The Anti-materiel Rifle is a powerful option for its raw damage.
  • The Minigun and SDFMG are good guns that have long range and are very easy to land hits with when using Holy Fire Bullets.
  • The Starmada is an additional option that has more expensive ammunition, but does high amounts of damage when fully charged up.
  • The Pack is a strong hard-hitting option at the cost of speed but with valuable homing.
  • The Skullmasher has incredibly good DPS despite its slow fire rate. However, it is a rare item variant, so it may take a long time to farm for it.

Mage[edit | edit source]

Summoner[edit | edit source]

  • The Corvid Harbinger Staff and the Endo Hydra Staff are the best options, as they are fast and they deal high DPS.
  • The Staff of the Mechworm is a good option for summoners as it deals high damage, particularly when Yharon sits still. However, it's not as effective during subphase 4 due to not being able to consistently catch up with Yharon's teleports.
    • Keep in mind that the Mechworm's damage caps out at 10 segments.
  • The phantoms from the Ethereal Subjugator are the best option for filling up the remaining slots if you are using the Mechworm.
  • The Cadaverous Carrion can be used to deal extra DPS.

Rogue[edit | edit source]

Gearing Up Post-Dark Sun[edit | edit source]

Armor[edit | edit source]

  • Silva armor is the preferred choice for all classes.
    • Lower-tier options such as God Slayer armor can still be used although they will be less effective.

Accessories[edit | edit source]

Many of the accessories used pre-Dark Sun can still be used.

  • The Dark Sun Ring is a good all-class option providing a balance of offensive and defensive boosts.
  • Eclipse Mirror is now accessible, a very powerful option for Rogue users.
  • A Dragonfruit can be crafted at this point to increase your max hp.

Weapons[edit | edit source]

Weapons dropped from Yharon or crafted with Darksun Fragments should suffice in most situations.

Melee[edit | edit source]

  • The Greatsword of Blah is recommended due to its good range and homing.
  • The Scourge of the Cosmos is another high damage option that spawns homing eaters when hitting the terrain or enemies.
  • The Empyrean Knives provide good damage as well as a source of healing.
    • Note that healing should not be relied on as Yharon and his projectiles deal massive damage.

Ranged[edit | edit source]

  • The Chicken Cannon is amazing for its high damage output and good crowd control over Yharon's many minions.
  • The Onyxia is another great choice for its high damage output, especially when hitting Yharon with the Onyx Blasts.
  • The Phangasm with Vanquisher Arrows remains useful despite being from a lower-tier.
  • With its typhoon and monsoon arrows, the Alluvion also is another option still when using Wooden Arrows.
  • With its high damage potential, the Skullmasher is a great option for phase 2. However, it is a rare item variant, so may be harder to obtain due to its low drop chance.

Mage[edit | edit source]

  • Helium Flash is the best magic option for its high damage output and long-range as well as a high area of effect to kill the Detonating Flames.
  • The Alpha Ray provides very high damage at the cost of lower range. The primary fire should be used over its secondary fire but only when Yharon is in its range.
  • The Voltaic Climax has a limited range, but it has homing and high damage output.
  • The Event Horizon can also deal high damage while also homing in. It is especially good when Yharon is dashing at the player.
  • Despite being from a lower tier, Light God's Brilliance still remains a viable option for direct damage.

Summoner[edit | edit source]

  • Saros Possession is the best option for dealing high DPS.
  • The Midnight Sun Beacon is a wonderful option, dealing high DPS and allowing the player to recast it for more damage.
  • Yharon's Kindle Staff is a good option giving defensive bonuses to the player as well as dealing massive damage to Yharon.
  • The Staff of the Mechworm still remains a powerful option although it has more trouble keeping up with Yharon than the Sons of Yharon.
  • The Cadaverous Carrion can be useful for extra DPS.

Rogue[edit | edit source]

  • The Infernal Spear is a high damage option that homes and can hit Yharon when behind the cover of blocks.
  • Similar to Melee, the Scourge of the Cosmos is another high damage option that spawns homing eaters when hitting the terrain or enemies.
  • The Empyrean Knives provide good damage as well as a source of healing.
    • Note that healing should not be relied on as Yharon and his projectiles deal massive damage.
  • The Executioner's Blade can still be used due to its ease of use with high homing.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • The Well Fed buff provides a useful all around stat boost.
  • The Ultra Liquidator is an option for applying Ichor to Yharon for 20 seconds for classes such as Ranger, reducing his high damage reduction and defense.
    • The Ultra Liquidator activates the Summoner nerf. As such, the Golden Gun should be used to apply Ichor instead.
  • The Slimy Saddle and Suspicious Looking Jelly Bean are powerful mounts that can be used evasively to fall quickly away from Yharon and out of harm's way.
    • The Alicorn is another mount that provides excellent horizontal movement.

The Fight[edit | edit source]

Phase 1[edit | edit source]

Yharon will spawn offscreen, meaning you should be prepared to dodge him as he approaches you. At the start of the fight, a tornado will appear on each side 120 blocks away from where you use the Dragon Egg. It is imperative to avoid these at all costs as they will instantly kill you.

At the start of the fight, Yharon will typically use shorter dashes while occasionally stopping to shoot fireballs or summon an Infernado. It is important to keep ahead of Yharon to avoid his high contact damage. At a certain health interval, Yharon will become briefly invincible and move on to subphase 2. The pattern is largely the same although Yharon will sometimes have a much longer dash. This can usually be avoided by moving perpendicular to the dash. As before, Yharon will release some Infernadoes and fireballs between dash intervals.

Again, once he reaches a certain health interval, Yharon will become invincible and transition to subphase 3. This subphase typically lasts the longest and consists more of Yharon's longer dashes. Between each burst of dashes, Yharon will summon an Infernado and occasionally circle in place, releasing fireballs in the process.

As Yharon summons Infernadoes, it is important to try and lead them near the sides of the arena where they are much easier to manage. Yharon's specific dash patterns vary from mode to mode, so the best way to learn these is through repetition of the fight.

Upon reaching 10 percent health, Yharon will fly away and drop a treasure bag containing loot that can help for Phase 2. The next time the player reaches 10 percent health, Yharon will go into his second phase.

Phase 2[edit | edit source]

After gaining new equipment, Phase 1 should be significantly easier than before. Upon reaching 10 percent health, Phase 2 will begin as Yharon begins to heal up. Yharon heals up to a higher percentage in higher difficulty modes.

Even while Yharon is healing up and invincible, it is important to keep firing as Yharon will summon Detonating Flames to his aid.

Compared to Phase 1, Phase 2 is a drastically different style of fight. As Yharon continues to charge at you, this phase has many more different projectiles. It is important to maintain good distance throughout the entire fight. The general approach to this phase is a circle or oval around the arena. When falling, using the Slimy Saddle or Suspicious Looking Jelly Bean is highly recommended to avoid Yharon as he gains on your position. When moving left and right, constantly dash to keep ahead of Yharon.

Once Yharon reaches his third subphase of Phase 2 (subphase 7 overall), this is when Yharon is at his highest difficulty. It is important to keep an eye on where and when Yharon performs his teleports and to plan accordingly. As with Phase 1, repetition is the best way to learn Yharon's attack patterns especially in subphase 7.

Occasionally, Yharon summons an Infernado. As before, it is recommended to lure them to the sides of the arena where they will pose much less of a threat.

General Tips[edit | edit source]

  • Disabling backgrounds can help players who have trouble focusing on all the different things that are going on during the fight.
  • It is recommended to use both the Rod of Discord and the Normality Relocator. The Rod of Discord will help you avoid the Flarenadoes and keep your distance without altering your movement afterwards, while the Normality Relocator can be used to quickly escape Yharon's fast dashes.
  • In Revengeance+, using Adrenaline or Rage can be used to easily burst down Yharon's health when it is low to swiftly end the fight as Yharon gets much more hectic in his last percentages of health.
  • Players can pick up Yharon's Treasure Bag each time Phase 1 is defeated, which will allow them to get items such as Yharon's Kindle Staff or the Chicken Cannon more easily.
  • Be aware that in Death Mode, Yharon has decreased attack delay, which can pose a problem to less experienced players.
  • Yharon roars before he dashes, so listening out for this audio cue is an easy way to time a dash out of the way. The timing is different in the Revengeance+ phase, however learning these timings can make the fight a lot easier.
