Status messages are messages that are sent into the chat to inform the player of changes within the world, boss actions, or mode activation. They also serve as a means for bosses to communicate with the player.

Progression[edit | edit source]

Message Trigger Effect
"The depths of the underground desert are rumbling..." Desert Scourge is defeated for the first time. Navystone, Eutrophic Sand, Sea Prism, and Prism Shards can be mined, allowing access to the Sunken Sea Biome. In addition to this, Prism-Backs will begin to drop Prism Shards.
"The desert wind is blowing furiously!" Desert Scourge is defeated for the first time. Sandstorms may now occur in Pre-Hardmode.
"The ground is glittering with cyan light." Hive Mind/Perforators are defeated for the first time. Aerialite Ore generates in the world.
"The Sunken Sea trembles..." Wall of Flesh is defeated for the first time. The Sunken Sea enemies are buffed, new enemies spawn and Giant Clam gains new drops.
"A star has fallen from the heavens!" Wall of Flesh is defeated for the first time or Astrum Aureus is defeated. An Astral Infection has crashed into the world.
"The ice caves are crackling with frigid energy." Cryogen is defeated for the first time. Cryonic Ore generates in the world.
"A blood red inferno lingers in the night..." Skeletron Prime or Brimstone Elemental are defeated for the first time. Calamitas can now be fought.
"Energized plant matter has formed in the underground." Plantera is defeated for the first time. Perennial Ore generates in the world.
"The ocean depths are trembling." Plantera or Calamitas are defeated for the first time. Immediately plays the roar of an Eidolon Wyrm. Enemies in the Abyss will begin dropping Depth Cells and Lumenyl.
"The astral enemies have been empowered!" Astrum Aureus is defeated for the first time. Astral Infection enemies are buffed and drop new items.
"A faint ethereal click can be heard from the dungeon." Astrum Aureus is defeated for the first time. The Astral Chest is unlocked.
"A plague has befallen the Jungle." Golem is defeated for the first time. Several plague related enemies begin spawning in the Jungle.
"An ancient automaton roams the land." Golem is defeated for the first time. Ravager can now be fought.
"A star-spawned horror tunnels through the astral infection." Lunatic Cultist is defeated for the first time. Astrum Deus can now be fought.
"The seal of the stars has been broken! You can now mine Astral Ore." Astrum Deus is defeated for the first time. Astral Ore can now be broken.
"The profaned flame blazes fiercely!" Moon Lord is defeated for the first time. Scorn Eaters, Impious Immolators, and Profaned Energies begin spawning in The Hallow and The Underworld.
"Cosmic terrors are watching..." Moon Lord is defeated for the first time. The Sentinels of the Devourer can now be fought.
"The bloody moon beckons..." Moon Lord is defeated for the first time. Blood Moons become much more difficult.
"A cold and dark energy has materialized in space." Moon Lord is defeated for the first time. Exodium Clusters generate within Planetoids.
"Shrieks are echoing from the dungeon." Moon Lord is defeated for the first time. The Dungeon becomes much more difficult and Phantom Spirits begin spawning.
"The calamitous beings have been inundated with bloodstone." Providence, the Profaned Goddess is defeated for the first time. Calamitas, Brimstone Elemental, Ravager, and Brimstone Crag enemies begin dropping Bloodstone.
"Fossilized tree bark is bursting through the jungle's mud." Providence, the Profaned Goddess is defeated for the first time. Uelibloom Ore generates in the world.
"The abyssal spirits have been disturbed." Polterghast is defeated for the first time. Maulers, Colossal Squid, Reaper Sharks, and Juvenile Eidolon Wyrms will begin dropping weapons.
"The harvest moon glows eerily." The Devourer of Gods is defeated for the first time. The Pumpkin Moon becomes much more difficult and Pumpkings begin dropping Nightmare Fuel.
"The frigid moon shimmers brightly." The Devourer of Gods is defeated for the first time. The Frost Moon becomes much more difficult and Ice Queens begin dropping Endothermic Energy.
"The dark sun awaits." Jungle Dragon, Yharon reaches low health and flies away. Solar Eclipses become much more difficult and Mothrons begin dropping Darksun Fragments.
"A godly aura has blessed the world's caverns." Jungle Dragon, Yharon is defeated for the first time. Auric Ore generates in the world.

Bosses[edit | edit source]

Message Trigger Effect
"Something is approaching..." Randomly in Death Mode, while the spawning conditions of a boss that has not been defeated yet are met. A boss from the respective biome will spawn.
"Cryogen is derping out!" Cryogen enters its final phase. Cryogen moves erratically and tries to ram the player.
"You underestimate my power..." Calamitas' reaches 75% health in her first phase. Calamitas transforms into her second phase.
"Impressive child, most impressive..." Calamitas reaches 50% health in her second phase. Soul Seekers spawn around Calamitas.
"The brothers have been reborn!" Calamitas reaches 10% health in her second phase. Catastrophe and Cataclysm respawn.
"Something stirs in the warm desert sands..." A fourth Sand Shark is killed after defeating Calamitas / Plantera. Alerts all players that a fourth Sand Shark has been killed (which may have happened off-screen).
"An enormous apex predator approaches..." An eighth Sand Shark is killed after defeating Calamitas / Plantera. Alerts all players that an eighth Sand Shark has been killed (which may have happened off-screen).
"PLAGUE NUKE BARRAGE ARMED, PREPARING FOR LAUNCH!!!" The Plaguebringer Goliath reaches 50% health. The Plaguebringer Goliath can now use her Plague Nuke Barrage attack.
"MISSILES LAUNCHED, TARGETING ROUTINE INITIATED!!!" Shortly after The Plaguebringer Goliath reaches 50% health. Many plague missiles are launched at the player.
"The astral infection trembles..." An Atlas is killed after defeating the Lunatic Cultist if Astrum Deus is not yet defeated. Alerts all players that an Atlas has been killed (which may have happened off-screen).
"The god of the stars draws near..." A second Atlas is killed after defeating the Lunatic Cultist if Astrum Deus is not yet defeated. Alerts all players that an Atlas has been killed (which may have happened off-screen).
"The air is burning..." Providence, the Profaned Goddess exiting her shell. Players are inflicted with Icarus' Folly.
"Wails echo through the dilapidated dungeon halls..." A tenth Phantom Spirit is killed after defeating the Moon Lord if Polterghast is not yet defeated. Alerts all players that a tenth Phantom Spirit has been killed (which may have happened off-screen).
"Long-dead prisoners seek their zealous revenge..." A twentieth Phantom Spirit is killed after defeating the Moon Lord if Polterghast is not yet defeated. Alerts all players that a twentieth Phantom Spirit has been killed (which may have happened off-screen).
"You are no god...but I shall feast upon your essence regardless!" The Devourer of Gods spawns. Dialogue, no effect.
"Don't get cocky, kid!" The Devourer of Gods reaches 25% health
When the Cosmic Plushie stabs the player.
Dialogue, no effect.
Spawns a Cosmic Guardian (or The Devourer of Gods's final form if the player's name is Terry) when stabbed.
"It's not over yet, kid!" The Devourer of Gods returns in its Final Form. Dialogue, no effect.
"A GOD DOES NOT FEAR DEATH!" The Devourer of Gods reaches 25% health in its Final Form. Dialogue, no effect.
"A fatal mistake!"
"Good luck recovering from that!"
"Delicious..."
"Did that hurt?"
"Nothing personal, kid."
Getting hit by The Devourer of Gods' head. Dialogue, no effect.
Instantly kills the player in Death Mode.
"Are you honestly that bad at dodging?"
"Of all my segments to get hit by..."
Getting hit by The Devourer of Gods' tail. Dialogue, no effect.
"You think...you can butcher...ME!?" Attempting to instantly kill The Devourer of Gods. The Devourer of Gods is not instantly killed.
"My dragon deems you an unworthy opponent. You must acquire the power of the dark sun to witness his true power." Jungle Dragon, Yharon reaches low health before defeating a buffed Mothron. Jungle Dragon, Yharon flies away instead of going into his second phase.
"The air is getting warmer around you." Jungle Dragon, Yharon enters his second phase. Yharon becomes briefly invincible and regenerates health.

Supreme Calamitas[edit | edit source]

"You must enjoy dying more than most people, huh?"
"Do you have a fetish for getting killed or something?"
"Alright, I'm done counting. You probably died this much just to see what I'd say."
"Do you enjoy going through hell?"
"Don't get me wrong, I like pain too, but you're just ridiculous."
Supreme Calamitas spawns after dying to her five times.
Supreme Calamitas spawns after dying to her twenty times.
Supreme Calamitas spawns after dying to her fifty times.
Supreme Calamitas spawns after defeating her prior.
Supreme Calamitas spawns after defeating her four times prior.
The first bullet hell occurs.
"Alright, let's get started. Not sure why you're bothering." The first bullet hell ends. Sepulcher spawns.
"You seem so confident, even though you are painfully ignorant of what has yet to transpire." Supreme Calamitas reaches 75% health. The second bullet hell occurs.
"Everything was going well until you came along." Supreme Calamitas reaches 50% health. The third bullet hell occurs.
"Brothers, could you assist me for a moment? Dealing with this ordeal is growing tiresome." Supreme Calamitas reaches 45% health. Supreme Catastrophe and Supreme Cataclysm spawn.
"Don't worry, I still have plenty of tricks left." Supreme Calamitas reaches 40% health. Supreme Calamitas enters her second phase.
"Hmm...perhaps I should let the little ones out to play for a while." Supreme Calamitas reaches 30% health. The fourth bullet hell occurs.
"Impressive...but still not good enough!" Supreme Calamitas reaches 20% health. Soul Seekers spawn in a large, spinning ring.
"I'm just getting started!" Supreme Calamitas reaches 10% health. The final bullet hell occurs.
"How are you still alive!?" Supreme Calamitas reaches 8% health. Sepulcher respawns.
"Just stop!" Supreme Calamitas reaches 6% health. Dialogue, no effect.
"Even if you defeat me you still have my lord to contend with!" Supreme Calamitas reaches 4% health. Dialogue, no effect.
"He has never lost a battle!" Supreme Calamitas reaches 2% health. Dialogue, no effect.
"Not even I could defeat him! What hope do you have!?" Supreme Calamitas reaches 1% health. Supreme Calamitas stops attacking and becomes immobile and invulnerable.
"Perhaps one of these times I'll change my mind..." 8 seconds after Supreme Calamitas reaches 1% health. Supreme Calamitas becomes vulnerable.
"You didn't die at all huh? Welp, you probably cheated then. Do it again, for real this time...but here's your reward I guess."
"One death? That's it? ...I guess you earned this then."
"Two deaths. Good job. Here's your reward."
"Third time's the charm huh? I guess it is. Here's a special reward."
Supreme Calamitas is defeated without the player dying to her.
Supreme Calamitas is defeated if the player dies to her once.
Supreme Calamitas is defeated if the player dies to her twice.
Supreme Calamitas is defeated if the player dies to her three times.
Dialogue, no effect.

"Go to hell." Supreme Calamitas is defeated using an overpowered weapon or with any butcher function. Supreme Calamitas will not drop anything besides Omega Healing Potions on death, regardless of difficulty.
"At long last I am free...for a time. I'll just keep coming back, just like you. Until we meet again, farewell." After Supreme Calamitas is defeated. Dialogue, no effect.

Boss Rush[edit | edit source]

Message Trigger Effect
"Hmm? Ah, another contender. Very well, may the ritual commence!" Upon starting Boss Rush. Dialogue, no effect.
"Hmm? Oh, you're still alive. Unexpected and exhilarating, but don't get complacent just yet." Upon defeating The Destroyer while Boss Rush is active. Dialogue, no effect.
"Hmm? Persistent aren't you? Perhaps you have some hope of prosperity, unlike last challengers." Upon defeating Lunatic Cultist while Boss Rush is active. Dialogue, no effect.
"Hmm? Your perseverance is truly a trait to behold. You've come further than even the demigods in such a short time."
"May your skills remain sharp for the remaining challenges."
Upon defeating Signus, Envoy of the Devourer while Boss Rush is active.
Shortly after Signus, Envoy of the Devourer is defeated.
Dialogue, no effect.
"Hmm? So you've made it to the final tier, a remarkable feat enviable by even the mightiest of gods."
"Go forth and conquer the ritual's end!"
Upon defeating Calamitas while Boss Rush is active.
Shortly after Calamitas is defeated.

"Hmm? You expected a reward beyond this mere pebble? Patience, the true reward will come apparent in time." Shortly after The Devourer of Gods is defeated while Boss Rush is active. The Rock is dropped by The Devourer of Gods.

"Bosses will now kill you instantly." Armageddon is used when the Armageddon effects are not active. Activates the effects of Armageddon.
"Bosses will no longer kill you instantly." Armageddon is used when the Armageddon effects are active. Deactivates the effects of Armageddon.
"Death is active, enjoy the fun." Death is used when Death Mode is not active. Activates Death Mode.
"Death is not active, not fun enough for you?" Death or Revengeance is used when Death Mode is active. Deactivates Death Mode.
"Your soul is mine..." Defiled Rune is used when the Defiled Rune effects are not active. Activates the effects of Defiled Rune.
"Your soul is yours once more..." Defiled Rune or Revengeance is used when the Defiled Rune effects are active. Deactivates the effects of Defiled Rune.
"Iron Heart is active, don't die." Iron Heart is used when the Iron Heart effects are not active. Activates the effects of Iron Heart.
"Iron Heart is not active, you can die again." Iron Heart is used when the Iron Heart effects are active. Deactivates the effects of Iron Heart.
"Revengeance is active." Revengeance is used when Revengeance Mode is not active. Activates Revengeance Mode
"Revengeance is not active." Revengeance is used when Revengeance Mode is active. Deactivates Revengeance Mode

"<PlayerName> was charred by the brimstone inferno." When the player is killed by the Vulnerability Hex debuff.

"<PlayerName> disintegrated into ashes." When the player is killed by the Lethal Lava Burn debuff.

"<PlayerName> was violently pricked by a flower." When the player is killed by the Thorn Blossom.
"<PlayerName>'s blood vessels burst from drug overdose." When the player is killed by the Astral Injection.
"<PlayerName> tried to change the rules." When the player is killed by using the Revengeance, Death, Armageddon, or Defiled Rune items while a boss is alive.
"<PlayerName> isn't worthy." When the player is killed by equipping the Lul accessory with a name other than "Fabsol" or "Totalbiscuit" or while more than one Town NPC is alive.

"Melee weapon proficiency level up!" Leveling up melee proficiency to Level 1 through Level 14. Launches a firework from the player.
"Melee weapon proficiency maxed out!" Leveling up melee proficiency to Level 15.
"Ranged weapon proficiency level up!" Leveling up ranged proficiency to Level 1 through Level 14.
"Ranged weapon proficiency maxed out!" Leveling up ranged proficiency to Level 15.
"Magic weapon proficiency level up!" Leveling up magic proficiency to Level 1 through Level 14.
"Magic weapon proficiency maxed out!" Leveling up magic proficiency to Level 15.
"Summoner weapon proficiency level up!" Leveling up summoner proficiency to Level 1 through Level 14.
"Summoner weapon proficiency maxed out!" Leveling up summoner proficiency to Level 15.
"Rogue weapon proficiency level up!" Leveling up rogue proficiency to Level 1 through Level 14.
"Rogue weapon proficiency maxed out!" Leveling up rogue proficiency to Level 15.
