The Rogue is a new class added by the Calamity Mod. The rogue class utilizes a unique Stealth mechanic granted by its armors, and makes use of thrown rogue weapons.

The Rogue class is largely developed, with content spread throughout the game. This includes 144 weapons, 31 accessories, 2 new full armor sets, 12 armor helmets, and 2 modified vanilla armor sets.

Mechanics[edit | edit source]

Rogue Damage[edit | edit source]

The Rogue's throwing weapons hit with a specific damage type called rogue damage. Accessories and armor can be used to augment rogue damage output, and generic 'damage' buffs still increase a Rogue's damage.

Proficiency[edit | edit source]

Rogue proficiency boosts the class's damage and critical strike chance, while also uniquely boosting projectile speed. Like other classes, the player's current rogue proficiency level and the stats gained from it can be viewed by purchasing a Rogue Level Meter from the Goblin Tinkerer, and the proficiency gain rate will be boosted if it is equipped.

Stealth[edit | edit source]

Stealth is a rogue-exclusive stat that the player gains access to upon wearing almost any rogue-class armor set or respective helmet. Stealth increases whenever the player is not using any items or weapons. Stealth will be gained at a higher rate if the player stands still. Stealth decreases when the player uses items or weapons, but remains the same while they are moving. Depending on the armor worn, the maximum Stealth value can vary between 50 and 160, though it is able to be boosted further through the use of accessories. It initially takes exactly 3 seconds of inactivity to achieve full Stealth, though this can be significantly shorted with certain accessories. Upon reaching full Stealth, a sound effect plays to indicate it.

For every point of Stealth, the player becomes slightly more transparent (this will not affect the player if they are near a town NPC), and the following stats are granted.
Note that the aggro change is calculated based on a percentage rather than a flat value, meaning that less of it is gained per point at higher maximum values.

  • +0.75% rogue damage (+1% per point at max stealth)
  • +0.3% rogue critical strike chance
  • +0.05% movement speed
  • -9 aggro per 1% of stealth

The following stats are what are granted when at maximum Stealth, listing the lowest max of 50, a typical player's max of 210 (Auric Tesla armor and an Eclipse Mirror), and the highest possible max of 310 (Auric Tesla Armor, Eclipse Mirror, Dark God's Sheath, and Silencing Sheath).
Note that once at maximum, every point counts toward +1% rogue damage instead of +0.75%. Also, because the aggro change is calculated based on percentage, its maximum is always the same regardless of armor.

  • +50% rogue damage / +210% rogue damage / +310% rogue damage
  • +15% rogue critical strike chance / +63% rogue critical strike chance / +93% rogue critical strike chance
  • +2.5% movement speed / +10.5% movement speed / +15.5% movement speed
  • -900 aggro

Stealth Strike[edit | edit source]

A stealth strike occurs when a rogue weapon is used while the player has full rogue stealth. Upon executing a stealth strike, the player's stealth will be consumed. Wearing the Ruin Medallion, Dark God's Sheath, or Eclipse Mirror will cause stealth strikes to only require the player's stealth to be at least halfway full to perform, and to only consume half of the player's maximum stealth when performed. Stealth strikes have a 1 second cooldown.

Several rogue weapons have unique stealth strike effects, listed below.

    Blazing StarBlazing Star Throws every star in the stack at once, all of which pierce indefinitely.

  • Throwing Class Compatibility[edit | edit source]

    Rogue damage is internally throwing damage, because of this, the Rogue and Throwing classes are semi-compatible with each other:

    • Accessories and armor belonging to the Throwing class that boost throwing damage will also boost rogue weapons.
      • Rogue accessories and armor will not boost throwing damage.
    • Rogue stealth will not boost throwing damage.

      • Melee and Throwing attacks create Xeroc Blast explosions on hit. The blasts deal 15% damage of the attack that spawned them.
      • Ranged attacks spawn Xeroc Fire sparks which fall to the ground and linger for a few seconds. They deal 10% damage of the projectile that spawned them.
      • Magic attacks spawn Xeroc Orbs that home in on enemies or heal the player (similar to the Spectre armor).
        • The damaging orbs deal 40% of the damage of the attack that spawned it.
        • The healing orbs heal for 10% of the damage the first time the projectile hits, 5% the second time, 0% the third time and so on. This only applies for piercing projectiles.
      • Minion attacks spawn Xeroc Bubbles which attempt to chase enemies. They deal 65% damage of the attack that spawned them.
