Jungle Dragon, Yharon is a powerful post-Moon Lord boss fought in the Jungle. The player should be well equipped and prepared before summoning him as the boss is incredibly challenging.

Spawn[edit | edit source]

Jungle Dragon, Yharon does not spawn on his own, and requires the player to summon him with a Dragon Egg in the Jungle.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

Jungle Dragon, Yharon is incredibly fast and deadly, almost always charging the player at high speeds and dealing extreme contact damage. Between these charges, he will also perform a plethora of other deadly attacks, from firing a variety of projectiles, summoning many lingering Flarenadoes and Infernadoes, and spawning several minions to fight alongside him.

At the start of the fight, Yharon will summon 2 massive stationary Infernadoes 170 blocks to the left and right of the player to serve as arena borders. Touching the Infernadoes will instantly kill the player. Successfully leaving the arena, or flying into Space, will cause Yharon to become enraged, which massively increases his speed and triples his damage until the player returns.

Yharon's speed is adjusted based on the player's max run speed and acceleration, meaning that he cannot be outrun.

Attacks[edit | edit source]

Phase 1[edit | edit source]

  • Yharon will create non-damaging illusions of himself at a certain point, becoming more visible as his health lowers (similar to Brain of Cthulhu in Expert Mode).
Subphase 1[edit | edit source]
  • Charges three times consecutively.
  • Spawns Detonating Flames which fly towards the player, attempting to deal damage by ramming them or shooting Giga FlaresGiga Flares.
  • Charges twice slowly and then once quickly.
  • Creates two Flare TornadoFlare Tornado projectiles, one of which falls to the ground and one which homes in on the player. Upon contact with a tile or the player, a large Flarenado is spawned. Flarenadoes will split apart after a certain amount of time, half of their segments being sent to the left and the other half to the right.
  • Spits a line of homing Flare BombsFlare Bombs, which explode after about 10 seconds or upon contact with tiles.
  • Upon reaching 70% / 85% / 90% health, Yharon transitions to his second subphase.
Subphase 2[edit | edit source]
  • Charges three times and then once quickly.
  • Flies in a loop, spawning Detonating Flames and shooting Flare DustsFlare Dusts rapidly with greatly varying horizontal velocities.
  • Charges three times slowly.
  • Flies in a loop, creating a ring of Homing Flare DustsHoming Flare Dusts that seek toward the player's initial position after a long delay.
  • Creates a Big Flare TornadoBig Flare Tornado which homes in on the player. Upon contact, a massive Infernado manifests. Shortly after spawning, every other segment of this Infernado will disappear, allowing passage through.
  • Upon reaching 40% / 60% / 80% health, Yharon transitions to his third subphase.
Subphase 3[edit | edit source]
  • Charges twice normally and then twice quickly.
  • Flies in a loop, creating a ring of Homing Flare Dusts that seek toward the player's initial position after a long delay.
  • Creates a homing Flare Tornado, which spawns a Flarenado upon impact.
  • Charges twice slowly and then once quickly.
  • Creates a homing Big Flare Tornado, which spawns an Infernado upon impact
  • Flies in a loop, spawning Detonating Flames and shooting Flare Dusts rapidly with greatly varying horizontal velocities.
  • Upon reaching 20% / 25% / 30% health, Yharon transitions to his fourth subphase.
Subphase 4[edit | edit source]
  • Loses all other abilities.
  • Will begin turning invisible and teleporting above or below the player then charging one to four times, similar to Duke Fishron's 3rd phase.
  • Yharon becomes invulnerable at all times except when charging.
  • Occasionally releases Infernado-spawning Big Flare Tornadoes.
  • Upon reaching 10% health, one of three things will happen:

Phase 2[edit | edit source]

"The air is getting warmer around you."

  • Aggressively charges at the player.
  • Fires a ring of Homing Flare DustsHoming Flare Dusts which flies towards the player.
  • Flies horizontally while launching Homing Yharon FireballsHoming Yharon Fireballs upward into the air, which soon begin flying towards the player.
  • Flies horizontally while firing several gravity-affected Yharon FireballsYharon Fireballs that, upon contact with tiles, quickly launch three Yharon Fireballs into the air that rain back down. These resulting Yharon Fireballs do not split on impact.
  • Summons small Bumblebirbs.
  • Upon reaching 5% health, Yharon loses all other abilities and resorts to charging the player.

When Yharon is killed, a ring of high-damage Homing Flare DustsHoming Flare Dusts is spawned around his death point, which detonate automatically after a few seconds to allow safe retrieval of Yharon's loot.

In Expert Mode[edit | edit source]

  • Yharon switches between his attacks at a faster rate.
  • Yharon's charges are faster and done in quicker succession.

In Revengeance Mode[edit | edit source]

  • Yharon transitions into subphase 2 at 85% health, subphase 3 at 60% health, and subphase 4 at 25% health.
  • Regenerates 85% of his health when entering Phase 2, instead of 70%.
  • Charges and teleports closer to the player.

In Death Mode[edit | edit source]

  • Yharon transitions into subphase 2 at 90% health, subphase 3 at 80% health, and subphase 4 at 30% health.
  • Regenerates 100% of his health when entering Phase 2, instead of 85%.
  • Summons an invincible Angery Flame in Phase 2, which attempts to ram the player while firing fast Homing Flare Dusts and Giga Flares for the remainder of the fight.
    • The rate at which it shoots fireballs greatly increases as Yharon's current HP decreases.
  • Yharon only performs fast charges and does so more often.
  • Yharon launches more fireballs during his second phase.
  • Summons more Infernadoes in place of Flarenadoes.

Aftermath[edit | edit source]

Once Yharon's first phase has been defeated, the Solar Eclipse is buffed and Mothrons begin dropping Darksun Fragments.

When Yharon's second phase is defeated with the player in the Jungle, the following things happen:

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Flarenadoes and Infernadoes will not deal damage for a short period after spawning, to prevent cheap hits on the player.
  • Yharon cannot be hurt by any attack that would deal 1/10 of his health in one hit, such as another mod's butcher function or an incredibly powerful weapon. When hit by such an attack, the damage is reduced to 0.
    • If Yharon is somehow instantly killed by any means, he will drop no items at all, except for Supreme Healing Potions.
  • While Yharon is alive, the world is colored deeply with orange. This will only happen if the Lighting option in the Settings Menu is set to "Color" or "White".

Tips[edit | edit source]

  • Always be cautious when moving horizontally, as the barrier infernado will instantly kill the player without warning.
    • It is advisable to put up solid blocks in front of the barrier infernadoes to prevent accidentally contacting them. The infernadoes will spawn 170 blocks away from where the player summons Yharon, but the size of the infernadoes increases with height, so it's recommended that the barrier be 155 blocks away from the starting position in order to avoid all contact with them.
  • A good tactic to avoid Flarenadoes is to fly high up into the sky and let the Detonating Flames hit you, dealing no damage to you and forcing the Flarenado to spawn out of the way of the fight.
  • The Devil's Devastation is also a useful weapon due to its fast projectiles.
  • The Galaxia is a good weapon for melee users due to its ability to home in on enemies.
    • If you do use the Galaxia, it might be a good idea to trigger a Frost Moon or Pumpkin Moon in order to get the Buffs that they give you.
  • The Gilded Proboscis is a good weapon for healing and picking off the Detonating Flames.
  • The Alluvion and Phangasm are both extremely effective due to their massive damage output, especially when paired with an Elemental Quiver and Vanquisher Arrows. Be wary, however, as the high amounts of arrow projectiles may cause FPS drops on weaker computers.
  • The SDFMG and Minigun are very effective when used with Verium Bullets and Chlorophyte Bullets due to their homing effects, allowing you to hit the boss more consistently. Keep in mind that the Chlorophyte Bullets are nerfed by 25% in the Calamity Mod.
  • The Voltaic Climax can achieve very high damage outputs especially when paired with the proper mage equipment.
  • The Empyrean Knives are a great choice for both rogue and melee classes for the Yharon rematch due to their excellent healing ability.
  • It is highly recommended to have an accessory equipped that allows dashing, such as the Asgardian Aegis, the Counter Scarf for true melee, or the Statis' Belt of Curses for summoners, in order to evade Yharon's quick movements.
  • Once Yharon reaches 20% / 25% / 30% of his health in his first phase, it can be difficult to identify his location as he will be nearly invisible and make it much harder to deal damage without homing weaponry. Having the minimap out can make this significantly easier, as his icon will show where he is.
  • The Rod of Discord is a great tool to use during the fight to avoid the flarenados and some of his attacks.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Yharon's first phase theme, before defeating a buffed Mothron, is Infernal Catharsis, which was composed by the artist DM DOKURO.
    • When the Calamity Music addon mod is disabled and the Calamity base mod enabled, Boss 1 will play instead before defeating a buffed Mothron, Boss 3 after defeating a buffed Mothron, and the Moon Lord's theme in his second phase.
    • Prior to the release of original Infernal Catharsis, his theme was Kyurem Battle theme from the game Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.
  • Yharon's first phase theme, after defeating a buffed Mothron, is Infernal Catharsis (Rebirth), a redone version of the previous theme which was also composed by DM DOKURO.
  • Yharon's second phase theme is Roar of the Jungle Dragon, which was also composed by DM DOKURO.
    • This song contains full lyrics sung by DM DOKURO himself. The song is a warning from Yharon to his master, Yharim, about the strength and unstoppability of the player character.
  • Yharon doesn't have a Lore item or Music Box for any of his themes.

Lore[edit | edit source]

Yharim grew up with no one besides his monstrous cohorts to keep him company after the passing of (nearly) his entire family...with the exception of his loyal dragon guardian, Yharon. Long ago, a powerful ranger found an egg within the depths of the Jungle Temple. She gifted the egg to her son, Yharim, to raise as a companion while she was away on her missions. Before the egg hatched it was tossed into the underworld lava, along with Yharim's entire family due to the arrogance and despicable nature of the elder brother. However, the heat of the lava only caused the young dragon to mature more quickly. Soon, it hatched into a furious beast, and was able to save Yharim from his demise, though the same could not be said for the rest of his family. Badly burned and filled with hatred and contempt, Yharim slowly crawled onto the back of his faithful companion. The dragon comforted him as best it could before Yharim commanded that they return to the temple, a new power and order was about to rise. From there the dragon aided Yharim in annihilating the corrupt leaders of the jungle and putting the power in the hands of someone with a broken heart and many scars. The dragon was more than just a mere friend to the tyrant, the warmth and light from the dragon's soul often comforted the tyrant king in times of great depression. Without his pet, the tyrant would've been dead long ago.
