It originates from the: Calamity: Community Remix addon.

The future bosses will be a group of six secret Godseeker Mode bosses added by the Calamity: Community Remix addon. They will be buffed versions of previous bosses, which take the form of their future selves had they not been defeated by the player. They will be summoned by using the Demon Trophy while their respective base boss's summon item is in the player's inventory.

The future bosses are intended to be fought when doing a "Hardmodeless" run of the mod, a challenge run involving the player trying to beat the mod without killing the Wall of Flesh and entering Hardmode. This is evidenced by the Demon Trophy being only usable in Pre-Hardmode, thus making the future bosses unavailable in Hardmode worlds, and the fact that each boss will drop items that would normally be unobtainable in such runs.

The Ancient Doomsayer (Japanese: 古代の予言者 Kodai no yogen-sha) will be a more powerful variation of the Lunatic Cultist, summoned using the Demon Trophy while the Eidolon Tablet is in the player's inventory. It will perform the same attacks as its weaker incarnation, but with greatly increased strength, speed, and amount. It will be able to use all of the attacks in its arsenal regardless of its current health, including Ancient Light, which will linger in the air for far longer and move much faster, and Ancient Doom. Its fireballs and Prophecy's End attacks will be much faster as well. The clones it summons will be identical to the Ancient Doomsayer in appearance, the real one only differentiated from them by the presence of a health bar.

Its only drop will be Blue Solution, which will allow the player to construct an artificial Hallow biome. This will then allow the player to obtain the Gelatin Crystal, and thus Souls of Light through Shimmer.

The Devourer of Universes (Japanese: 宇宙を食べる者 Uchū o taberu-sha) will be a more powerful variation of The Devourer of Gods, summoned using the Demon Trophy while the Cosmic Worm is in the player's inventory. The Devourer of Universes will always be in its final form, and will use its laser wall attacks throughout the entire fight, during which it will always be visible even when invulnerable. The boss's speed will be increased dramatically, and its laser wall attacks will be more frequent, more random, and have less room for error. Regardless of the world's chosen difficulty, contact with The Devourer of Universes' head will instantly kill the player.

It will drop summoning items for the Mechanical bosses, allowing the player to obtain their drops. This will also allow the player to obtain Hallowed Ore, if an artificial Hallow biome is created using the Blue Solution dropped by the Ancient Doomsayer, and Souls of Light, from dropping the Mechanical Eye into Shimmer (if the Gelatin Crystal method is not used.)

Quotes[]

  • "DOES IT HURT!?" (When the player gets hit by its head)

The Blizzard Monarch (Japanese: ブリザードの君主 Burizādo no kunshu) will be a more powerful variation of the Deerclops, summoned using the Demon Trophy while the Deer Thing is in the player's inventory. It will have similar attacks to its previous form, albeit much stronger with far more distance and frequency. It will summon shadow hands throughout the fight, regardless of the player's distance to itself. If it enters its invisible state during the fight, the player's health will begin rapidly draining until it becomes vulnerable again. A constant blizzard will also be present throughout the fight, that will become more obstructing and opaque as the battle progresses.

Its only drop is the Rod of Discord. This allows the player to summon the Adult Eidolon Wyrm for Subnautical Plates.

Dragon God, Yharon (Japanese: 龍神ヤハロン Ryūjin yaharon) will be a more powerful variation of Jungle Dragon, Yharon, summoned using the Demon Trophy while the Blessed Phoenix Egg is in the player's inventory. He will begin in his first subphase and will transition to his third subphase at 98% health, summoning Infernadoes, spewing fireballs, and flying at extreme speeds. He will remain this way for the majority of the first phase, before transitioning into his teleporting fourth subphase at 30% health. His second phase will begin in its most difficult pattern, and will continue to be as such for the remainder of the fight.

Its only drop will be Souls of Flight, allowing the player to craft a wider variety of Wings.

The Fungal Masterchef (Japanese: 菌類のマスターシェフ Kinrui no masutāshefu) will be a more powerful variation of the Crabulon, summoned using the Demon Trophy while near a Barocrab. It will have some similar attacks to it's Pre-Hardmode counterpart. It will be raining Mushroom Spores throughout the whole fight. The Fungal Masterchef will turn invisible and become faster in it's second phase, similarly to Duke Fishron. Sometimes it will start cooking up some tasty Delicious Meat which heals the player when touched.

It drops a plentiful amount of Delicious Meat, which can be helpful for fighting Bosses.

The Masterminds (Japanese: 黒幕たち Kuromaku-tachi) will be a more powerful variation of The Inventors and the Wulfrum Excavator, summoned using the Demon Trophy while a Draedon Power Cell is in the player's inventory. They will begin using their normal attacks with higher speed and damage. They will become more aggressive below 75% health, summoning stronger Wulfrum enemies, launching Wulfrum bolts, and jumping around at extreme speeds. At 50% health, a buffed and significantly more aggressive variant of the Wulfrum Excavator will be summoned. All three entities will share a single health pool.

Its only drops will be Beetle Juice and the Terminus, allowing the player to start the Boss Rush.

Notes[]

  • When any of the five are summoned, the background will turn grey and all NPCs and projectiles will appear translucent.
  • Ancient Doomsayer, Blizzard Monarch, and the Masterminds lack map icons, which will make their fights significantly more difficult.
    • Locating the Ancient Doomsayer will potentially be difficult due to its constant teleportation.
    • The player may have a difficult time judging their distance and position relative to the Blizzard Monarch, so minimal movement is advised.
  • Dragon God, Yharon will not fly away if the conditions required to defeat Yharon, Dragon of Rebirth were not met. The fight will continue as normal, regardless.

Trivia[]

  • The future bosses are recycled content from the main Calamity Mod. Originally, the bosses were summoned with the various Soul Artifacts present in the mod, and granted major buffs to characters upon defeat. They were eventually scrapped and later reimagined into "Hardmodeless" content, and giving a use to the Demon Trophy.
  • Three of the future bosses originally had their own themes:
    • Ancient Doomsayer's theme was You Shall Know No More, which was composed by the artist ENNWAY.
      • After the future bosses were removed, You Shall Know No More became the Lunatic Cultist's theme.
    • The Devourer of Universes' theme was UNIVERSAL COLLAPSE, which was composed by the artist DM DOKURO.
    • Dragon God, Yharon's theme was Roar of the Jungle Dragon, which was also composed by DM DOKURO.
      • This theme was fully voiced with its own lyrics by DM DOKURO himself. The song was a warning from Yharon to his master, Yharim, about the strength and unstoppability of the player character. The song's lyrics are considered non-canonical to the mod's official lore.
      • Like You Shall Know No More, Roar of the Jungle Dragon was reused and became Yharon's second phase theme after the removal of the future bosses.
    • The Blizzard Monarch lacked a theme, as the future bosses were removed before it could be finished.
    • The Masterminds also lacked a theme, as the future bosses were removed before it could be finished.
  • The original three future bosses are a reference to the "Dream Bosses" from the game Hollow Knight.
  • All of the future bosses cannot be instantly killed, such as by using another mod's butcher function.
    • Attempting to do so with The Devourer of Universes makes a unique message appear in the chat; this will not happen with Dragon God, Yharon, Blizzard Monarch or the Ancient Doomsayer.
  • The Devourer of Universes' line “DOES IT HURT?” is a direct reference to a line from monsoon in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
